Last week over 2400 companies gathered in Las Vegas to showcase the latest in products designed to improve performance, safety and convenience, and enhance appearance and comfort in every make and model on the road today. Every year top vehicles in four categories are selected for the SEMA Award, recognizing vehicle models that specialty-equipment manufacturers believe are the best platforms for accessorization and that showcase the year's coolest products.

The winners of the 2013 SEMA Awards for the trending vehicle models in four categories were the Ford Mustang, Hottest Car; the Scion FR-S, Hottest Sport Compact; the Ford F-Series, Hottest Truck; and the Jeep Wrangler, Hottest 4x4-SUV.

"Our SEMA Show exhibitors are industry visionaries who determine the winners of the SEMA Award. The booth space is a ballot and the vehicles they choose to showcase in their booths are a vote. The most prominent models in each category are the winners,” stated Chris J. Kersting, SEMA president and CEO.

The Ford Mustang is offered in either coupe or convertible with V6, V6 Premium, GT and GT Premium models. The model is expected to see a complete redesign for 2015 so the 2014 model remains mostly the same aside from new colors and slight changes to the appearance packages.

The Scion FR-S is a sporty, light-weight, rear-wheel-drive sport compact, offering agility at an affordable starting price of $24,700. The FR-S was new in 2013 and was ranked 1 of 10 affordable sports cars by US News & World Report.

The Ford F-Series has been the best-selling truck in America for years and is outpacing the segment with sales on track to set the highest yearly total since 2006. Ford redesigned the front-end of the F-Series in 2012 and plans to redesign the whole line next year for 2015.

The Jeep Wrangler is a two door 4WD, highly capable off-road vehicle with a base price of only $22,395 and a 3.6L V6 engine. Jeep offers four trim levels from the basic Sport model to the fully equipped Rubicon and the Wrangler is one of only a handful of vehicles still offering manual transmissions.

All four of these award winning vehicles were selected based on the amount of aftermarket accessories available to customize them. This makes any of them great selections for anyone that really wants to upgrade their ride for performance, appearance, or comfort. All three manufacturers offer many options and accessories but specialty shops will have the most variety of items for customization.
