More and more people have gas prices and fuel economy on their minds. This has in part resulted in a surge of interest in hybrid and electric vehicles and now we’re seeing another interesting shift - more people are considering a diesel vehicle. A mainstay in Europe, diesel vehicles have often been overlooked in North America - considered to be noisy and not worth the dollars at the dealership - but this perspective is slowly changing.

2013 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel

2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel
Jeep has been selling diesel vehicles in Europe for some time now and is planning to bring its diesel engine to its very popular Grand Cherokee. With this upgrade, the Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel will likely feature a 3.0 liter V6 that has a powerful 406 lb-ft of torque. As well you can expect more mileage from your tank of diesel along with the increased power under the hood.
2013 Porsche Grand Cayenne Diesel
A Porsche with a diesel engine? Not something many who are familiar with the Porsche line of vehicles would likely expect but Porsche has been selling its diesel-powered vehicles in Europe with great success. In fact the diesel-powered Cayenne outsells the Boxster and 911 models in Europe. The new 2013 Porsche Grand Cayenne diesel features a sleek design inside and out and will have a diesel engine that outdoes the power of the popular Volkswagen Touareg TDI.
2012 Volkswagen Passat TDI
Many of you are familiar with Volkswagen and its line of diesel vehicles and in fact you may even own one. With the 2012 Passat TDI, drivers and analysts everywhere were happy to see this car back on the lots - something we’ve missed since 2005. According to Volkswagen, you can drive 795 miles on its 18.5 gallon diesel tank.
2012 Mercedes-Benz ML350 BlueTEC
This 3.0 liter diesel engine is just one of the features that make the brand new ML350 SUV worth a test drive. With lots of room for passengers and gear along with the clean lines and style that Mercedes is known for, you also get an engine that boasts some strong gas mileage numbers. Also worth noting is that the diesel engine int he ML350 is one of the most quiet on the market.

It is important to remember that diesel engines are no longer considered to be environmentally-unfriendly, thanks to low-sulfur diesel, exhaust additives and high-tech catalytic converters.
