When you are shopping for a new car it pays to do some research and find out as much as you can about the autos you are interested in so you can be sure that the vehicle you end up buying is what you want and there are as few surprises as possible. Along with the price and feature comparisons you can find on AutoBuying101.com, a useful list is J.D. Do Poor Sellers Mean Great Deals?

Deal or No Deal?

When we hear that a car is not selling particularly well, our spidey senses start tingling. Our intuition is that when they're not moving metal, there are probably going to be great deals available.

Automobile magazine recently published an article called The Best Cars That Nobody Buys. They looked at eight very competent and seemingly desirable vehicles, offering some analysis on why these cars may not be selling.

Let's take it one step further and see if, in reality, there are great deals to be had on these eight poor-selling cars.

Are Hybrids Right For You? Part Deux

Hybrid Part Deux

Last month we asked the question: Is a hybrid right for you? The answer to that question was conditional. If your primary concern is the sociopolitical goal of using less fuel regardless of cost, you have the thumbs up. If saving money was your issue, we had to apply a comparative formula of initial purchase premium versus annualized fuel savings to determine the break even point. Comfort At An Affordable Price

Chrysler 300

Think about what you’re looking for in your next new vehicle or even what it is you like about your current vehicle. Chances are that you’ll list comfort high on the list. Sirius XM Adding to Pre-Owned Enticements When You Buy From A GM Dealer

GM Dealers (Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC brands) looking to move more used cars in 2011 have a little more ammo in their bag of tricks, thanks to Sirius XM Satellite Radio.  According to a recent press release, the company is now offering a free three month subscription to the company’s service with the purchase of a pre-owned vehicle that has a factory installed receiver, regardless of make/model.  The only caveat is that the vehicle be purchased at one of more than 1,000 participating GM dealerships across the US.

GM will continue to provide the same three month subscription to buyers of new and certified pre-owned GM vehicles, but this new offer allows budget-conscious and bargain shoppers the opportunity to experience Sirius XM, as well.

GMC Adds Free Maintenance Program to Certified Pre Owned Vehicle Sales

In further news designed to make the used car market even more attractive to current car buyers, GM announced a new program for buyers of GM Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles.  The new program, called GM Owner Care, will provide buyers of these CPO vehicles with two years of free maintenance.  The arrangement provides a two-year/30,000 mile maintenance program that covers oil changes, tire rotations and multi-point vehicle inspections at no additional charge.

J.D. Power & Associates 2011 Vehicle Dependability Study

J.D. Power & Associates

You would think that after all Toyota went through with their “memorable for all the wrong reasons” 2010, the brand would have taken a hit in the many surveys and studies that are taken on the topic of dependability.
